Department of Communication Honors Plan
The Department of Communication encourages eligible students to complete the Departmental Honors Plan. Such students are also encouraged to pursue the College of Liberal Arts (LBAR) Honors Plan, and one or more of the three university-wide honors distinctions at Texas A&M University: Foundation Honors, University Honors, and the University Undergraduate Research Fellows Program (honors senior thesis).
Students who fulfill the requirements identified below will receive a special designation on their official university transcript indicating completion of Honors in the Department of Communication.
Requirements to Graduate with Department of Communication Honors
To complete the Department of Communication Honors Plan, students majoring in the department must complete 18 hours of Honors classes as follows:
[1] At least nine Honors credits in courses that are among the 33 credits in a student’s major classes (COMM or TCMS).
[2] At least six Honors credits in courses offered by departments other than the Department of Communication and outside the 33 credits in a student’s major classes (COMM or TCMS).
[3] At least three additional Honors credits either in the Department of Communication, or in one of the student’s areas of interest outside the Department of Communication.
[4] At least nine Honors credits of the 18 credits must be upper-division courses (300-400 level). At least six of these upper-division honors credits must be in courses offered by the Department of Communication.
Eligibility Requirements and Other Honors Policies:
The Department of Communication Honors Plan shall be consistent with the honors eligibility requirements and other policies set forth by the Texas A&M University Office of Honors Programs & Academic Scholarships in the Honors Handbook, which is available online at http://honors.tamu.edu/honors/general/Handbk.pdf.
