Student Labs

Computer Labs:

BLTN 111: The Computer Lab is for Communication and Journalism undergraduates and graduates to work on class assignments and coursework. Its 27 PCs are equipped with Microsoft Office 2010, Adobe CS 5 Master Collection, Audacity, and Camtasia. These programs allow you to create and edit videos, images, and text documents, record your screen movements, edit sound files, and convert different file formats.

111HOURS:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, except when a course schedules a class meeting in the lab. Please see weekly schedules for availability.

Computer Classrooms:

BLTN 019 & 24: Computer classrooms dedicated for use by students in Communication and Journalism courses that hold class meetings or labs in a computer classroom.

Presentation Practice Room:

BLTN 014: To improve their public speaking skills, Communication and Journalism undergrads and graduate students are welcome to practice and record their presentations in our presentation practice room. To reserve the room for a specific date and time, present your TAMU ID to the Help Desk Assistant and give them an hour advanced notice. If you want help improving your presentation skills, check out our Outloud Online.

Equipment:

At the Help-Desk, in BLTN 111, Communication and Journalism graduate students can check out laptops, voice recorder, webcam, microphone, JVC camcorder, tripods, headphone, and extension cords.

All of the check outs are due within 5 business days. Needs 24 hours advance notice.

Software:

In addition to Microsoft Office 2010, students can use Adobe CS 5 Master Collection, Audacity, and Camtasia to create and edit videos, images, and text documents, record screen movements, edit sound files, and convert different file formats. Graduate Students can also check out Dragon, which is a speech recognition software.
